Truthful Tuesday II- Celebrity Birthday Meme... →
incognitoagain: ducksonthepond: Everyone likes to get well wishes and such on their birthday, but sometimes people feel cheesy to just outright tell everyone “Hey it’s my birthday on _____”! So here’s my request for the day….tell us a celebrity/celebrities you share a birthday with…. Sir Arthur Guiness and F. Scott Fitzgerald.  Can’t believe I never knew that.

Dependency Injection →
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this post because it took what is often poorly explained and made it so blatantly simple.  Also it combined two of my favorite things, mystery novels and coding.

Truthful Tuesday - my little secret
It is now lunchtime. Coworkers are streaming in the kitchenette in front of my office busily preparing their Lean Cuisines, occasionally glancing over to see me listening to my headphones. Bach some think, others Chopin.  But only I know that I’m actually listening to Rio by Duran Duran, and it makes me smile.

Becoming a better developer
Becoming a better developer involves knowing how, when, and why to refactor poorly operating code.  In the not too distant past I didn’t take enough time to refactor code early in my projects which led to a resistance to change throughout the project’s lifecycle. By embracing the need to refactor code from the start, my projects are constantly evolving to meet the needs of users and do...

Cooking tip of the day
When stir frying zucchini always make sure each piece has some skin along its length.  The skin will allow the zucchini to retain texture and flavor.  Cook at medium high temperature with light sesame oil for no more than 2-3 minutes.   Other veggies with similar cook times are bean sprouts, onions, and green onions.

Those were the days
My wife stopped by the “candy store” on her way home from a pedicure tonight and purchased some Amaretto for me. I haven’t had an amaretto on the rocks in far too long. I had forgotten how delicious these were. Cheers tumblr!

goestoeleven: burwell: well i can see what i’m gonna waste my time on this morning. This has been my soundtrack at work ever since I saw it this morning. I’m trying really hard to balance between being totally distracted by it and using it as an interesting, non-intrusive musical background. Regardless, OH MY GOD I LOVE THIS. Wow, that’s insanely addictive.  Nice use of major...

Life 2.0: Why is everyone alerting me of these... →
rafimama: First, yesterday i hear that the Zodiac Calendar is all wrong and that they are re-assigning dates because the Earth has shifted. The. Earth. Has. Shifted. Today, people are telling me that putting two spaces after a period is, in fact, wrong. Ms. DePoto, of New Milford H.S…. While I applaud your mockery of spacing I must inform you that HTML escapes all white space.  80...

Language Question
I was trying to write a response today thanking someone for “keeping me up to date”.  I know this is an idiom, but every other option I could think of was an idiom as well. In the loop abreast of the situation I know there are many writers on here; how would you properly say the same thing?

Daily Journal for my wife
I have started a daily journal of reasons I’m thankful for my wife.  There really aren’t any rules for it, but the general idea is that I will find some reason to be thankful for my wife every day.  I then write some backstory for what made me think of the reason so that I’ll be able to look back over the list at the end of the year and remember specific moments that made me...

Time for a short gloat
Last night I set a personal record with a $25,600 $25,800 coryat score.  According to Karl Coryat, a Jeopardy contestant and creator of the coryat score, the typical Jeopardy contestant averages $24,000.  Next skill sets to improve are important people from history and Shakespeare.
