Fantastic news!
My father in law has just received his test results that show he has no remaining leukemia. He still has another 3 months in the hospital, but this is huge news that I had to share. We already had plans to visit him, but this will make the visit more upbeat for all.

In SQL Server 2008 R2 this issue can be resolved by manually typing the name of the desired database to contain the ASP.NET membership tables rather than relying on the Database combobox.

Best novel introduction of all time
Call me Reid. During the best of times on a bright cold April day I was turning over in my mind a piece of advice that it is a truth universally acknowledged that all the people in this world haven’t had the advantages I’ve had when the clocks were striking 13. All of this happened, more or less, but if you really want to hear about it, the first thing you’ll probably want to...

If heaven is full of several “religious” people I know, I’ll take the alternative.

Poor English
It irks me that I frequently speak poor English. I have just finished typing the term “bring up” as in “He does bring up some good points.” Isn’t there a more succinct verb that could used as opposed to a Verbosition*?
I also “really hate” using week adverbs. Since when did the verb hate lose enough power that I have been forced to add the adverb...

It’s midnight. I’ve been cooking now for 6 hours and finally have the appetizer and desert courses complete for the dinner tomorrow night. I am exhausted. Time for bed so I can awake tomorrow to cook the main course options.

Barnes & Noble Leatherbound Classics →
Let me start by stating the obvious; I love books. My wife and I went into Barnes & Noble last night and saw a portion of this collection on display. As someone who hopes to one day have a decent library (and who is also a bit of a collector by nature), I could not believe how good these books looked and read for the $18 price tag.

G-Voice
I’m afraid I don’t quite understand the sublteties of g-voice, but I do understand that it involves something to do with Hitting the east side of the LBC.
$978 and 7.25 years
Actual cost of an iPad 3g with WiFi purchased via credit card this holiday season if the monthly minimum were paid.
Investing, or paying yourself, the same $10 per month in a low earning (8%) mutual fund would net $382.40 solely in interest over the same timespan, which itself is probably more than ten times the value of that same iPad in 2017.
I’ll take the $1,200 payday in 2017.

Christmas decorations
My wife: (setting out christmas decorations) Honey, any ideas where we should put these?
Me: What are "these"?
My wife: penguin salt and pepper shakers
Me: the donate pile?

I really miss running. My ankle still will not let me run more than a mile after injuring it just over a year ago during half marathon training.

President Quote of the Day: 12.1.10
deadpresidents:
“It is a damn poor mind that can think of only one way to spell a word.” — Andrew Jackson (1767-1845), 7th President of the United States (1829-1837), and a notoriously bad speller.
